According to SVR guru Thomas Naylor, us critics of SVR are motivated by our fear their success, based on the 48 (8%) people who favored secession in that poll that Naylor loves to brag about. From Rowley, at VT Secession:
In a statewide random sample of over 600 eligible voters, two-thirds of the respondents expressed the view that the U.S. government has become unresponsive to the needs of individual Vermonters...Seriously, are these people on-the-level about anything? Ok, one poll, commissioned by SVR, not UVM, and we have Naylor going on about how '40,000 Vermonters favor secesssion.' Quite a leap to extrapolate 40,000 from 48, no? What do most Vermonters really think when it comes to secession and more specifically, the Second Vermont Republic? FBC uses cutting-edge, state-of-the-art technology to give you the answer...
...According to the person responsible for UVM's 2006 Vermonter Poll, the data was collected for SVR. The poll that SVR has repeatedly referred to without ever once providing specific details as to the questions, question order, results or the fact that they were the "client" in the first place, was their poll all along and not, as they have tried to lead the press and the public to believe, a UVM poll. UVM's CRS merely collected the data for SVR...
UPDATE: Rowley has the actual poll questions and results here.

Awesome!
I have done more blogging on the back grounds of the advisors of the SVR with quotations of their writings.
