Well, Second Vermont Republic has issued a response.
Short summary: it's about secession, not the racism. VT Commons' Rob Williams states : "some of our secession scholars - Don Livingston, for example - happen to be southerners. Anyone who has met and talked with Don knows the man is thoughtful and well-studied. Is he a racist? I don't know. And frankly, it is none of my damn business, at a personal level."
He doesn't know, and more importantly, doesn't care.
So, the long and short of it seems to be, 'Yes, there may be some racists on our advisory board but the advice they give in regards to secession is more important than the racism that many of these people associate with." Okay, I wonder how many Jews or people in the gay community involved in SVR feel about that. But, why disclose that information, right? We'll have to see. I don't think this is over yet.
